Those I Love the Most Week

Posted by: mbloyer7 on: February 14, 2012

With Valentine’s Day being this week, I thought I would  celebrate it by blogging each day on the people I love the most, my husband and my kids, and sharing some of the things I love about them! Today on Valentine’s Day, I will start with my best friend, Scott Bloyer. This day has a special meaning because it was on this day 20 years ago that Scott proposed to me!  I follow a ministry called Leading and Loving It. The founder is Lori Wilhite who is married to Jud Wilhite, the Lead Pastor of Central Christian Church in Las Vegas, and who our church, Elevation Christian Church, is partnered with. Leading and Loving It is a community that connects, encourages and supports pastor’s wives and women in ministry. The end of January, they challenged us do a February Love Challenge starting on February 1st. So for 14 days we were to do one purposeful act of love each day for our husbands. On one of those days, I emailed Scott ten things I loved about him:

Ten Things I Love About You-

1. I love how you can drive some place only once, and can still remember how to get there even years later.

2. I love how you obey God. No amount of money is too much to give. Anything you feel God is calling you to do, you do it regardless of what it is.

3. I love how you believe in people and are able to see their gifts and talents that they never saw or knew they had.

4. I love how you are always learning. Either by listening to other pastor’s messages or reading, and pushing me to do the same.

5. I love to hear you preach, every single time!

6. I love that you are the spiritual leader of our home. You are an amazing Dad, always encouraging our kids to try something new now matter how afraid they may be and to never quit.

7. I love how every morning you are writing in your moleskin journal. You are an incredible leader.

8. I love how you still look at me.

9. I love how after almost 20 years (in May) of marriage I can still say that you’re my best friend.

10. I love how romantic you are and how “Date Night” every week is always a priority to you.

The Importance of Trust

Posted by: mbloyer7 on: February 10, 2012

One of the most important things I feel I have learned  from church planting and starting Elevation Christian Church, is that the best thing for me to do and my role in ministry and my marriage, is to trust my husband’s leadership and to be his best supporter. Now I didn’t start out doing this, there were many times in the beginning that I was not sure of some of his ideas & decisions for the church and would question him. But I learned that by doing this, I was not building him up but tearing him down. God soon showed me that Scott doesn’t need me trying to change who he is, he needs me to encourage him to be the person God created him to be using the gifts and talents God gave him! I work hard at  this by always being there for him,  listening when he needs me to, giving my advice when he asks for it, and most importantly, lifting him up in prayer daily!

The way I  continue to grow in my ability to trust him, and in others, is to grow in my ability to trust God in my own life.  I love this passage from:

Matthew 11:28-30, “Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.  I’ll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.  I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.  Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

New Adventures

Posted by: mbloyer7 on: February 1, 2012

So one of my goals for 2012, was to start a blog of my own. So after a lot of prayer, support and a little “push” from my husband, I am finally starting one! This is definitely something that is new to me. One thing I am hoping and praying for is that my blog will be something that will bless, encourage and uplift anyone that reads it. I hope you enjoy reading it as I share about my life-past, present, and future (aka-”New Adventures”), my family and all the amazing things that God is doing through our church and all the adventures of church planting, from the Pastor’s wife’s perspective!

About Me

I am wife to Pastor Scott Bloyer of Elevation Christian Church. I am mother to Danielle, Tyler and Morgan. I love going on dates with my husband, listening to my husband preach, working out, going to movies, and spending time with my amazing family.
